This policy explains what personal information The Fred Warner website collects, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We have tried to keep it plain and honest. If anything is unclear, get in touch and we will explain.

Who we are
This website is run by Fred Warner, trading as The Fred Warner. We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.
You can contact us at loveonelife@thefredwarner.com.
What we collect, and why
We only collect what we need. Here is what that looks like in practice.
When you send us a message through the enquiry form
The form covers general enquiries, speaking and bookings, sync and licensing, and media or podcast guest requests. We collect your name, email address, the type of enquiry, and whatever you write in your message. We use this to reply to you and to deal with your request. If your enquiry leads to a booking or a licence, we keep the details needed to carry out that agreement. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (responding to you) and, where it leads to an agreement, performing that contract.
When you join the Love One Life List
We collect your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it. This is our one newsletter. It covers new music, new podcast episodes, new books, and the occasional personal message. We only send it with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. The list is managed through [Email platform, for example Mailchimp or Klaviyo].
When you join a waiting list
If you ask to be told when a new book or release is available, we use your email address only to tell you about that release. Our lawful basis is your consent.
When you apply to be a podcast guest or send a question
We collect what you submit, including your contact details and your story or question. We use it to decide whether to respond, to contact you, and, only if you agree, to feature it on an episode.
When you browse the site
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are popular, which country visitors come from, and when someone clicks through to buy a book on Amazon or presses play on a track. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. Our lawful basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner.
Security and spam protection
Our forms use spam and bot protection ([Spam protection tool, for example reCAPTCHA or Cloudflare Turnstile]). This may check technical information such as your IP address and browser to tell humans from automated software. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and free of abuse).
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies, which keep the site working and secure. These do not need your consent.
- Analytics cookies, which help us understand how the site is used. These are only switched on if you accept them.
- Cookies from embedded content, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube or the DISCO music catalogue. These providers may set their own cookies when you play their content. They are covered by their own policies.
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the site footer, or through your browser settings.
Music catalogue and third-party services
Our sync and licensing catalogue is hosted by [DISCO or chosen platform] and shown on this site as an embedded player. When you use it, that provider may collect information such as your IP address and which tracks you play or download, and if you create or sign in to an account with them, they will hold the details you give. They act under their own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.
Our books are sold through Amazon. When you click a Buy on Amazon button, you leave this site and Amazon’s own privacy policy applies. We do not receive your payment or delivery details. We can only see, through analytics and with your consent, that a click on the button happened.
Other services we rely on include our website host ([Host name]) and our email platform ([Email platform]). They process information on our behalf and only under our instructions.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers described above, with professional advisers where needed, and with authorities if the law requires it. Some of these providers are based outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on recognised safeguards, such as the UK’s approved data transfer arrangements, to protect your information.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: for up to [24 months] after our last contact, longer only if an agreement means we need to keep records.
- Newsletter and waiting lists: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a minimal record so we do not email you again.
- Analytics data: for the period set in our analytics settings, currently [14 months].
- Podcast guest applications and questions: for up to [12 months] if not used, or for as long as the episode remains available if they are.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict or stop using it, or object to how we use it
- ask for your information in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing or changing your cookie settings
To use any of these rights, email loveonelife@thefredwarner.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will let newsletter subscribers know.
